EARTH
“TRULY CINEMATIC
VISTAS OF EARTH”
CINEMATIC
OSR’s greatest USP has to be the over-view effect of Earth from space.
We’ll seamlessly combine real photography from space by real astronauts with enhanced photography, archive and CG augmentation to create truly cinematic vistas of Earth that really capture the wondrous POV of our astronauts, and create ‘privileged’ views of the planet to tell the story of Earth’s interconnected biosphere in all its awe.
“extreme side-lighting to reinforce scale and give emotional impact”
We suggest 3 camera ‘altitudes’ to capture our Planet:
1 - Super-Wide framings of Earth - think Gravity - and a tiny dwarfed ISS, with extreme side-lighting to reinforce scale and give emotional impact to the astronauts’ actual physical location in relation to the hugeness of Earth.
2 - POVs - as if captured by astronauts themselves, sometimes looking down, sometimes looking up. Unusual framings and compositions with absence of a constant horizon will hint at a micro gravity environment. POVs from the Cupola of the ISS may need enhancing or creating and combining with specially commissioned hi-res photography by astronaut, Paolo Nespoli.
3 - High altitude views of Earth's incredibly detailed surface texture, some with time-lapse lighting effects and a moving, raking light to remind us of the Earth's rotation around the Sun. This will link in with our Nano World style with pronounced shadow movement across a detailed surface to subtly hint at the dynamism of our life-support machine, Earth, through space.
“AS IF CAPTURED BY ASTRONAUTS THEMSELVES”

SPHERES
OSR will reveal Earth’s interconnected systems from Space by visualizing real NASA data to create alternative perceptions of the planet: whether it’s ocean currents, historic volcanic activity, or giant rivers of moisture in the sky, these will play out over our cinematic views of Earth in a way that echoes our ‘Bioluminescent Worlds’ but on a planetary scale. Self-illuminated layers will sit seamlessly over a more muted lower-exposed Earth-pallet to help give clarity to the image without fighting the complex textural detail of the Earth’s magnificent surface beneath.
Patterns and movements will make flow visible. We will use fractal filaments to create a living, organic visualization.
