INVISIBLE

INVISIBLE

OSR will take us beyond the limits of human perception on an adventure into incredible, invisible worlds revealing the hidden processes that keep life alive.  We will use combinational techniques to show hidden processes leaning heavily on practical effects to fulfil closer details, cut with wider more comprehensive CG views to set the context and aid our understanding of our planet's Aura.

A distinct color palette will be used to differentiate between different invisible worlds, depending on whether they occur in water, ground or air.

WE REVEAL THE HIDDEN PROCESSES

PROCESS

Life is a process – in a constant state of flux and internal motion. So we reveal the hidden processes inside our strange rock and the creatures it keeps alive – the movement of water inside plants, nutrients through root systems, food through animals – primarily using our bioluminescence technique.

PLAYING WITH TIME TO REVEAL EARTH’S VAST MOTIONS

FLOW

We can’t always see it but Earth is dynamic. Whether it's turbulent rivers of air in the atmosphere, the incremental movement of tectonic plates, swirling vortices in the sea, the trans-oceanic currents, or the ocean conveyor – there are vast motions that are present but not visible. We reveal this dynamism by highlighting the invisible flow, and by playing with time – speeding up glacial movement or slowing down air currents.

WE REVEAL HIDDEN FORCES

FORCES AND FIELDS

Nothing happens unless it’s forced to. So we reveal hidden forces that drive the engine of the Earth Machine and the cosmic events that calibrated it for life.

For example, the web of gravitational space-time that holds the Solar System together – a visual that’ll echo the use of LIDAR to reveal the planet’s interconnectivity on the surface; the huge shepherding force of Jupiter pushing other planets and asteroids further out to the edge of the Solar System and ancient Earth and Moon bombarded by asteroids, to calibrate Earth’s orbit.

We’ll also visualize the fields – the invisible ‘zones of influence’ of the forces that surround life, objects and planets - such as our planet’s invisible protective shield – the magnetosphere, and the ozone layer.

The color palette for these shots will predominantly include white, yellows, oranges and reds - based on colors linked with different exposures of the sun.

ENERGY

Heat. Light. Radiation. Movement. The universe is awash with invisible energy that we can’t see. But it's fundamental to life – so we’ll need to make it visible too.

From the electrical firing of coral’s neuronal network to the colossal energy released through the collision that formed our Moon. We’ll use cinematic plate photography for real-world environments with desaturated grading to allow the enhanced energy layer to take center stage. This could work sometimes like ‘a camera filter’ rather than an additional element, similarly in the same way we can view the sun through visible, infrared and ultraviolet light, each wavelength of light reveals new visual characteristics that aid our understanding of processes at work.
