spacetest
‘Rock’ will feature all celestial bodies of the cosmos – planets, moons, proto-planets, asteroids, meteors, space debris, dust.
‘Rock’ will use the strong directional light that astronauts experience during a a space walk, sometimes animated to give raking light across the surface particularly with closer framed images where there is plenty of textural detail. Wide shots will be composed with cropped framings for foreground with reference to Earth as a tiny small planet in the distance to provide scale but also to hint at the significance of our cosmic address.
Sections of planets for example will be visible as crisp, sometimes thin arcs of light rather than revealing whole surface texture detail, which echo the real photography of space probes using light-based imaging. These 'full scale' worlds will mirror the lighting state of our Nano Worlds so there’s an echoing synergy between these two extreme scales. The source of the light will rarely be seen other than the direct specular and shadowing on the surface.
Backgrounds will be created where appropriate with practical effects elements for a more Nebulous organic feel, that’s expanded in our next category – Gas.
