EARTH

CINEMATIC
SCI-FI VISIONS OF EARTH

OSR’s USP will be spectacular vistas of Earth that show our home through the eyes of a space traveler.  Think Gravity, Oblivion and Interstellar.  The other-worldliness of the planets will be inspired by the great Sci-Fi movies, seamlessly combining real NASA photography from real astronauts, with VFX enhancements, to create awesome views of our home and other celestial worlds.

SUPER-WIDE SCALE IN ZERO G

Our Strange Rock in space will have an overwhelming sense of scale, created with super-wide shots of Earth and a tiny dwarfed ISS, Gravity-style.  Cool, extreme side-lighting will create a harsh, sci-fi look. Unusual compositions and gentle rotations will imply the sensation of zero-G and puts us right in the space-suit with the astronauts. POVs from the ISS Cupola will be combined with photography, specially-commissioned from astronaut Paolo Nespoli, and real, low-Earth-Orbit views of Earth's detailed surface. Earth as a tiny distant planet will reveal the significance of our cosmic address: an island of life in the vacuum of space.

GLOBAL TIMELAPSES – OUR STRANGE ROCK IS ALIVE

Earth’s interconnected life-support systems are revealed with ‘Global Timelapses’ from space.  Real NASA ‘Big data’ make the invisible ‘engines of life’ visible:  Ocean currents, volcanic activity, or giant rivers of moisture in the sky. These ripple across the surface of Earth using a similar look to our Bioluminescent Worlds but on a planetary scale. Time-lapse lighting effects reveal Earth's cosmic journey through space.  Magical glowing layers, patterns and movements will make flow visible. The planet will seem alive and organic. Strong directional light that astronauts experience during a space walk will create an authentic look for all our planets and celestial bodies, even down to the finest grains of space dust. Crisp, thin arcs of light give a sense of the depth of deep space. Lens effects echo the look of real NASA scans and photography.
